Sally Hansen's Crackle

I first saw Shatter nail polish last year in a Cosmo magazine, promoting the newest Pirates of the Caribbean movie. I loved the look but still haven’t gotten a chance to get any. Then Sally Hansen came out with the Crackle line. I went online to the website and a lot of reviews said that it hadn’t been worth the money. So I decided not to buy any SH Crackle. Well, two weeks ago, I bought SHC’s Fractured Foil. Typical me, I “saved” it for awhile. In the meantime I used SH HD’s Pixel Pretty.

That looked to plain to me, so I added SH C’s Fractured Foil over it.Image
And this was the final result :) I love it!

Palm Trees

This is a manicure from 2 weeks ago, when it was summer-like in my area. My honey had bought me, (and my daughter, we share the nail polish equally,) 4 nail polishes. I debated what color to use and decided on L.A. Colors’ Festive. With the warm, sunny weather, I used my nail art plate’s palm tree using WnW’s (Wet n Wild) SaGreena the Teenage Witch. I regressed with this mani as I got polish all over my cuticles and the art is obviously crooked. But practice makes perfect!

NFL DC team colors

My fave NFL team is the Dallas Cowboys. So I decided to use my blue nail polish and my silver and blue glitter polish over top the blue.

Late St.Paddy’s Mani

I was busy with family yesterday and didn’t have time to post. But I did do my nails in honor of St. Paddy’s Day. Hope you enjoy the colors!

Pink Ruffle

Another short entry because my meds are making me drowsy. I had my daughter pick the ribbon for this bracelet and I think its really pretty. Its a nice day outside and I’m hanging laundry on the line.

Lavender Bracelet

Last night while I was trying to wind down enough to go to sleep, I decided to make a soda tab bracelet. A month or two ago I had seen a pic of one and didn’t have any ribbon at the time. So I improvised and single-crocheted a length of yarn and used a flat bead. The following picture is the result of my first one, which I gave to my oldest son.

Well, I have a few spools of ribbon and chose the lavender to make a bracelet. The picture makes it look more of a purple but that is how things go, lol.

Working On Some Fun

I’m working on taking pics of my nail polishes and will be trying to put a link with all the pics on the side of my blog. Then once in a while, I’ll let one of you choose which colors and/or design I should do. Until I get this done, I’ll be posting small things that I’ve done. Today’s will be a drawing that my daughter did for her Art class. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Plaid Mani

I know, I know, this is the second post that I’m late on. My daughter and I went out Friday night and I splurged on nail polish for us. *cringes*  Then I took her to the ER, (she’s ok, on antibiotics) then to Wal-Mart for some Tylenol for her, among other things :D After we got home, I couldn’t sleep the rest of the night, which led to me sleeping in pretty late. Then I was so excited about using some of my nail polish that I couldn’t choose which ones to use. So I made my honey choose 2 polishes and a design. He chose the nail polish but proceeded to throw me under the bus by telling me to make up a design. While I was thinking, I went thru hair barrettes and organized them using tips I got from Pinterest. Then I put my nail polish and accessories in the basket that I got from Five Below. Everything is a bit more organized, woohoo! And my polishes aren’t about to break the storage container. I finally came up with a design to try. I was going to make it argyle but hand painting the stripes was pretty hard so I just stuck to those. I was pretty proud of the way it turned out.

The base coat is Funky Fingers’ Pop Artist and the black stripes are Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Black out.

Flower Power

I finally got the hang of my nail art plates! I didn’t want anything too complicated so I applied my base coat, then used Sally Hansen’s Xtreme Wear Fuchsia Power. It turned out simple flower power, the way I wanted it to.

Signs of Spring

I’m so excited! I decided to go check on my flower beds today. Lo and behold, my crocuses are blooming! So I cleared out the bed and then waited a few hours for my toe to stop throbbing. (On Saturday, I was carrying a basket of laundry to the basement and stepped on a fallen canned good. My left foot went for a ride while my right foot stayed on the step. By Monday I discovered that my toenail had been lifted off my nail bed but not bad enough to take it off.) Then I went back out to clear some more flower beds. I cleared out my black tulip bed, 2 more tulip beds, a daffodil bed, and a hyacinth bed. And now its time to rest my foot again and to post the pic of my crocuses.

"Shield" Mani

Good morning! I’m a bit more chipper today. Probably because its supposed to get into the 60s today, woohoo! Also, because the colors of my mani turned out better than what I thought. I had one of my kids choose a design from http://chloesnails.blogspot.com/ and choose one of the colors and had another one of my kids choose the second color. My one son said it looks like a shield. I thought that they would clash terribly but to my surprise, it turned out pretty cool! (Sometimes mom doesn’t know, lol.) But here is the pic, judge for yourself.

I have to use the first digital camera that my honey bought me. The second one he got me was a Sony Cyber shot and it disappeared. :( I’m so unhappy about it but am trying to save up to get another. So until then, I have to make do with a camera that for some reason, blurs the pic some. (And yes, I tried all different settings.)

A DIY necklace

I’m feeling blah today so this will be short & sweet. I followed the instructions of this link: http://aprettypennyblog.com/2011/01/02/project-restyle-easy-no-sew-t-shirt-necklace/. And the following pic is the result.
The black one is from an 2XL shirt and the yellow one is from a child’s sz 5 shirt.

Quilling Project

Yesterday I spent several hours working on the project that I started making for my mom. I had started it early Sat morning and yesterday decided I was going to continue with it. I have the quilling part of it done. Now to have my daughter paint the sky with clouds and grass. Then on to buying a frame for it. And after I finished quilling the flowers, I started another project, that for now is classified. But no worries, it will be revealed in time. :) But in the meantime, here are a couple of pics of the quilled flowers.

Should I add more flowers to it?

Easter Project

My bestie has a blog on Tumblr: http://billielloyd.tumblr.com/ and on her blog, she made a challenge for herself of making something every day for month. So last night she asked me what I made which I had to tell her, “Nothing.”  Anyways, with her and I both quilling now, (I’m such a bad influence, lol,) we got to discussing backgrounds for our projects. Scrapbook paper, construction paper, the possibilities are endless! And since my mom is the one who bought me a book on quilling, (see a previous post,) I decided that I’m going to make something for my mom for Easter and put it into a frame. The following pic is my first step. So Billie, I made something for today, haha!

Also today, 15 years ago, my hubby n I started dating. :) Pretty cool, huh!

Outer Space Quilling

Wow, what an evening I had last night! Thanks to Billie for the tip about the Nail Stamper kit! I just had to go get it but what a brainless idiot I am, lol. I brought it home and tried using it. For some reason it didn’t want to work. I finally figured out what was wrong. Dummy me, the blue stuff has to be peeled off! *hangs head in shame* Also, my digital camera is being a pain. When I take a pic of my mani, its blurry but the background is clear. Grrrr. And I tried different settings with the same results. So today I’m going to talk about one of my quilling projects. This next one is a pic of a spaceship and rocket. My son picked it and told me to aim the rocket ship for the space ship, lol. This design and the peacock design came from the book called “Quilled Borders & Motifs.”  The following link will take you straight to the page of the main website. http://www.searchpress.com/info.asp?EAN=9781844482085&page=search

Monster High Inspiration

This is officially the third blog that I'm starting. No worries, though, they are all identical. The first blog was started on WordPress, the second one  was started on Tumblr because my bestie has one on there and this one because my nephew has a blog on here, mike-takethecake.blogspot.com. These next few posts are going to be "old" posts from my other 2 blogs but will be catching up soon as I don't blog every day. Cheers and I hope you enjoy!

From time to time on my blogs, I will be referring to "Chloe's Nails," (http://chloesnails.blogspot.com/), a blog that got me inspired to start painting my nails again. That lead to me thinking about blogging. I know nothing of blogging so bear with me. Today I'm posting a pic of a "mani" that I did several...nights ago. (The pause is because of the circumstances leading up to the manicure.) I don't have much patience so its inevitable that I don't use all the items that you are supposed to. Now I slap on a base coat because my nails peel and I hate that. I bought Sally Hansen's Green Tea + Bamboo, which is a nail strengthener. Cool thing is, you can use it as a base and top coat. So 3 uses in one bottle, makes sense to me! I love the way my nails feel and look after using a top coat, all smooth and shiny. Except this last paint job seemed to soak up the top coat and I never got around to putting a second coat on. My inspiration came from "Chloe's Nails". This link should take you straight to the page: http://chloesnails.blogspot.com/2010/11/patchwork-mani-tutorial.html. (Her blog is awesome! I could never do as good.) I used the green tea + bamboo as a base coat, then 2 coats of SH's Hard as Nails White Tip. I taped off each nail and used 2 coats of Claire's Cosmetics True Blue. The first coat seemed to dry pretty quickly, but I think I may have rushed it by putting the second coat on right away. Then I used Five Below's Funky Fingers Manic Flamingo. Right before I had gone to bed, I was on the Chloe's Nails blog. Needless to say, when I went to bed, I wasn't able to sleep, but tossed and turned for a few hours before the adrenaline got me up. So downstairs I went to do my mani, then mani turned out sloppy :( So see, impatience doesn't do any good.(And forgive the poor pics, I'm trying to figure out the best setting on my camera for taking the pics.) I had used the white and was trying to figure out what other colors I wanted. My daughter has the first 3 Monster High books and for Christmas received Monster High earbuds, so the pink and blue made sense. A friend of mine (also my honorary daughter, have known her since she was 14) pointed out that there was no black. Well, nyah to you, Haley. :P I didn't have a nail brush to paint a thin black line.
